Boston Harbor [Re]creation

The largest recreational open space in Eastern Massachusetts, the Boston Harbor Islands are minutes from downtown Boston and surrounding communities, offering views of the city, remarkable history, and recreation opportunities. The park attracts over 1/2 million visitors annually and is an important ecological habitat for wildlife. The Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park  will feature two art initiatives during the summer of 2017:

  • Boston Harbor Islands Artist In Residency, based on Spectacle Island
  • Temporary Sculpture on Peddocks Island

The art initiatives create platforms for artists to interpret the unique elements that comprise Boston Harbor, so that the artists in turn may engage new audiences through creating place-based artwork that offers innovative educational and recreational opportunities for the public. Projects will be selected by a juried process, and I am the Project Manager.

Deadline for submissions is January 30. Download the Request for Proposals or visit for more information about applying.
