In all of my work, I strive to build people’s connections with the natural world. Usually it takes the form of larger scale public artworks, and these candles emerged in the same spirit, albeit much smaller. I started playing with herbs and beeswax and jars and fire, making mini bundles of sage, lavender, rosemary, wormwood, and cedar and pouring beeswax around them and lighting them. To my surprise, these little herbs burned less as smoke bundles, and more as wicks! And the herb candle was born! I made a Zine to go with the candle to help convey their magic.
