As part of an educational grant with NOAA & National Marine Fisheries Foundation, I was invited by Mystic River Watershed Association to propose a project to raise awareness about ocean plastics & marine debris in Chelsea. I was able to connect with La Colaborativa youth to do a trash cleanup/survey at Island End Park in Chelsea and then incorporate the plastics they found to design and create hummingbird sculptures.

Together we practiced creative transformation and learned about the connection between storm water runoff (mainly trash that makes its way into the river through our storm water system) and marine debris.
