Tires, stainless steel bowls, vines.
4′ x 4′ x 6″ each
These sculptures were selected to be featured in Art in the Park, an exhibition of sculptures by New England artists at Worcester’s historic Elm Park. After the exhibition, the Broad Meadow Brook Audubon Center asked if we could relocate the Portals on three trees in the sanctuary’s nature play area.
The circular forms feature a reflective circle in the middle, which suggests a transitional space between realms. The vines used to create them had been strangling another tree, and have been woven in the same way they grow naturally. What had been a parasitic element on one tree became decorative pendant-like features on another.
